Many of us have been in an accident at one time or another, wether
driving or a passenger, at fault or blindsided. What are your
experiences. They often make great learning experiences, and are
usually interesting reading.

As for me:
1: 1st time driving 15y/o with a learners permit. I was stopped at a
traffic light, and had been stopped for 30+sec when this lady plowed
into me going 40+mph. no injuries, but moms van was never the same.

2: Middle of nowhere, honda prelude, driving for 17+hrs and they
closed freeway cuz of ice (they let cars currently on the freeway
continue, but when you got off, even for gas they wouldnt let you back
on) going 50mph when a surburban starts passing me, loses control and
starts to slide into me, outta reflex I slammed on the brakes
(MISTAKE) and proceded to hit the center K-rail, then the metal guard
rail on the other side of the freeway, and back to the center K-rail
effictivly smashing up 3/4 corners of my car. the surburban then takes
off w/o stopping (20miles down the road I passed it while it was
upsidedown, I stopped to help)

3: getting into my car from shopping, my door was still even open and
some guy backs into me, then takes off. I hop in and follow while
calling the police. $3k in damages, and he claims he didnt even know.
cops cited him for hit and run, reckless driving, and an out tail
light :) sadly my insurence company (same as his) called it a NO FAULT
and didnt cover the repairs.

for 1.3 million miles and way to many hours to count of drive time not
bad.

I won't tell about my accidents, but I will share a story of the best
near miss I've ever had:

One snowy day I was coming up a big hill near the house. About a third
of the way up, some guy in a Toyota pickup starts down. As we get
closer to each other, he tries to move to the side some to give me
clearance.

This gets the rear tire of his truck into the snow at the side of the
road, and the rear immediately swings around in a spin.

I muttler strange words that Mom never taught me, and brace for a
crunch. Nothing else I could do, here is a pickup comeing at me
sideways.

The truck continues to swing around. Soon the rear of the truck is
pointed down (so he's gone and done a 180) and he's facing up the
hill.

Someone liked me... The truck slides by, in his lane, backwards. I
look over at him, and see just a look of terror in his eyes. He
figures he's dead!

Just after passing me (going backwards, at about 20!) the truck
continues its rotation, with the remaining 180 taking place so that at
the bottom of the hill he's faced in the right direction, going about
10 mph. <g> Me, I never stopped, but I'll never forget the look on
that poor guy's face!

Never so close...
