I've got a 99 suburban.  I had a bad ignition switch so I replaced it.
the job was easy until I got to the two tiny reverse torx screws in the
steering collumn.  I tried to find a small socket to remove them.  the
guys at NAPA, Advanced auto and SEARS hardware all told me "we don't
carry anything that small I'm not even sure they make them that small"
I assured them that in fact they were that small.  so I finally
resolved to pull it out with a pair of needle nose pliars and just
replace it with something normal when I put it back to gether.  The
first screw cam out fine the second however, was a pain in the neck.  I
finally got it off but there is a small nob that turns the ignition
switch when you turn the key that broke off.   Is there a way to
replace that part?  Do I have to take the steering column apart?

I tried to epoxy it together.  It holds to turn the car to the on
position but when you turn it to start. it breaks off.

Would I be better off putting in a permanant hotwire?

any help would be greatly appreciated.
