I've got a '94 Suzuki Sidekick that is sucking gas. It actally started
about a year ago. I used to get 300+ km on a tank of gas. Fairly
suddenly it was down around the 270-280 km range. Because I used my
motorcycle for commuting in the spring, summer and fall I wasn't
particularly bothered.
Recently I installed some NSK platinum sparkplugs, thinking maybe the
burn was poor. The old plugs certainly had out-of-spec gaps, so I
figured I was good to go. Well, there was no improvement in
efficiency, and the last couple tanks seem to be even worse, with less
than 270km to E.
Could something like the O2 sensor cause a sudden drop in economy? Is
there anything else I should check?
Thanks,
Dean

Yes, if he tells the engine to enrich the fuel/air mixture.

Air filter, tire pressure,
on board diagnosis, compression,
and perhaps - the odometer?

Thomas

Dunno where you live, but here in California our winter gas blend causes my
vehicles to lose about 10-15% in mpg - similar to your 10% in a tank of gas.
It really is noticeable if you have a higher effeincy vehicle like a Prius
or similar. Once spring/summer rolls around, it goes up again - but so does
the cost.

Since the Iraq war, all gas coming from Iraq is watered down. It's a
conspiracy to destroy the USA. Blame Bush for starting a war for no
reason. The OP appears to be from another part of the world because
of the use of metrics. As an American, I am warning you that all the
worldly problems are because of Bush. If you want your milage back,
your country will have to assist America to get rid of Bush. Please
come and get the moron and take him to your country. Do whatever you
please with him. He might come in useful as a hole-plug, if your
sewerage system springs a leak, or you might be able to train him to
fetch unexploded bombs, just like a dog. Either way, take him, we
sure as hell dont want him. Heck, most Americans would even pay you a
few bucks (I guess that's pounds), to get him out of here, so you
could even make some money doing this.
