Hi,

I was discussing with my friends, which car was/is the best car ever
built. Now I was interested in the opinion of you guys.

My choice would be BMW X3

I'd say the Ford Mustang with the Dodge Viper as a second.  For older,
how'za 1957 Chevy straight 6?

Currently, the Toyota Camry (for sheer sales volume much as the old Mustang)
and their Prius hybrid for innovation and low maintenance/running costs.

Naw.  The Mustang!  (even though I detest Ford engines and trannys, their
body work is cool!).

I believe the official word on that is the Ford Model T followed by the
Austin Mini.

The Ford because it was the first mass produced car and the Mini because
of the front wheel drive innovation.

Oldsmobile "mass produced" cars before Ford. Auburn, Citroen, others, all
had front wheel drive before Austin. I suppose you could still pick the
Model T because of the sheer volume mass produced and the marketing scheme
of lowering prices to make it affordable to the masses (and also the
manufacturing innovations of a moving assembly line and paying the workers
enough to buy the cars they were producing). And the Austin Mini was the
first truly successful transverse engine front wheel drive vehicle (well as
successful as anything built in England could be).

Personaly I would not pick either as "best" cars. Maybe "most outstanding"
cars. Best is very dependent on the person deciding what is best. My
persoanl best car was a 1986 Mercury Sable.
