I have 1986 Ford F-150 pick up with a inline 4.9 6 cylinder engine with a
carter feed back carburetor. The problem is when Im driving, the engine
starts to hesitate and then stalls. Then it will not restart untill the
engine cools down. This only happens when the air temp is above 85 and
humid.I thought the problem was vaporlock.I wraped the fuel line in the
engine compartment with Cool it thermo sleeve, but i still have the
problem. need soom help.

Next time it happens, open the hood remove the air cleaner and move
the throttle open and shut a few times .  Look in the air horn and see
if your getting gas squirting from the accelerator pump.   If not,
then you have a fuel delivery problem - fuel pump.

If you are getting fuel, pull a spark plug wire and lay close to
ground and see if you have fire.  If not, you have an ignition
breakdown - module?

Next time it happens, go crack open the gas cap and see if it starts
right back up.  If it does, then your gas tank vent is plugged.  That is
usually a charcoal canister of some sorts with an air filter on the
bottom.  They sell just the air filters for a couple bucks, but the
first one will likely be a bear to dig out.
