Govnmnts should force manufacturers to fit shock*absorber bumpers

 Very few models ( e,g, Nissan sunny 130Y ) have *, because
manufacturers want users to buy new bumpers ( when flattened ).
Without *, collisions on public roads / bridges are much more
severe, with more injuries, & blockage of roads / bridges.
 A * can even flatten ordinary bumpers, w-o any damage to itself (*)
/ its user, i.e. usually no need to assess / negotiate for damage, or
block traffic, or make claims / police report.  If both vehicles in a
collision have *, then most likely neither party will have any injury /
damage to repair / claim for, thus will not cause a jam.  Insurance
claims will be far fewer & smaller, so underwriters will reduce their
premiums for buyers.  Those of you who never experienced *, may
want to see 1st how well * can work.
 Govnmnts ( esp countries with a shortage of doctors / nurses ) can
minimise road collisions / injuries / jams, & maximise their peoples
' productivities, by forcing manufacturers to fit *.  Lawyers & body
repair shops will likely oppose such laws, to avoid losing business,
until their relatives / themselves get injured / killed in collisions.

We already did this. It was a stupid idea then and it still is. 5 mph
bumpers were great until you had a 7 mph collision, then things were
much worse. Plus the bumpers were ugly and heavy. Statistics gathered
during the era of 5 mph bumpers showed they actually increased repair
costs on average. I lived through this horrible idea once, please don't
try to ressurect it.

Then net impact speed is 2 mph.  Each pair of 130Y's * can absorb 130
Y's momentum up to 8 kph : if 3 130Y`s collide in a row, then the # of
pairs of * in use is 4 i.e. 32 kph absorbable.  If 4 130Y`s, then 6 pairs
of * i.e. 48 kph, & so on.

Newer 130Y's bumpers are painted to same colour as car, by Nissan :
ugly my foot.   * weigh just a bit > the steel bar replaced, u can fool
only those who never held a * in their hands.  A 130Y with 4 * weighs
just 835 kg

Bullshit, [i] my 130Y front * bumper has flattened a '85 corolla's rear
bumper, w-o any damage to mine  [ii] when my '90 accord hit a 130Y's
rear * bumper, my front bumper was slightly flattened, his * bumper
got no damage @ all, so I needed not compensate him.  * bumpers
saved me much time & money.

| please don't try to ressurect it.
U must be a OEM parts salesman / body repair shop / tow trucker /
lawyer / insurance assessor ( protecting your job ).

I tried to post a diagram of 130Y's *, but this NG seems to ban any
attached file.
