Hi.  Anybody know how I can permanently disable engine light on my
dashboard of my 1995 Altima?  Thanks in advance

Pull the bulb :-)

But seriously, in the state I live in (PA), we are required to have an
annual emissions test. Part of that test requires NO check engine light
be illuminated.  When one turns on the key, the check engine light
comes on as part of a diagnostic to show that it is still working (i.e.
not been pulled or is burned out).

Another course of action is: why is the light on?  Since your car is a
95, is should be ODB compliant, go to your local auto store to borrow
an OBD reader, I have one that will loan you an OBD reader ( for use in
the parking lot) to see what the error code is.

Hope this helps... mark

Easy! Fix the problem.

As glib as that answer sounds, it is 100% correct. On some cars you
can remove the bulb but inspectors are wise to this. If the CEL light
doesn't come on with the key on and the engine off, you fail.
