Resetting Car's Computer

I have a 1998 Buick. Recently, the Check Engine Light Soon light went on and
at the same time the car started riding real rough.

I undid the gas cap and put it back on. The car immediately returned to
normal (I must not have clicked the gas cap the last time I used it which
was the previous day). After about 15 more minutes of driving the Check
Engine light went off and all is well.

However, when I check the car's computer via CARMD it still gives a yellow
signal. This means that I have a potential problem OR that the computer's
error message has not been properly reset.

I assume it's the latter due to the aforementioned occurence.

So, is there anything I can do to reset things or will that just occur by
itself over time??

Disconnect the battery, then hold the brake pedal down for 30 seconds or so.
That should drain the power enough to clear the memory.
