I have an older battery charger that I haven't used much, but I don't
have the users manual and am looking for some basic information - such
as when it's first turned on what should the ampere rating be, what
should the trend on the scale be after that (i.e. going up or down?),
approximate timing to charge a 12v car/boat battery that's just low
(10-11v), etc.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

First of all, we need to know if this a 2 amp, 10 amp, or 50 amp charger? If
your battery is half charged the 50 amp would only take about 20 minutes to
get it charged enough to trust. If it is a 10 amp about 2-3 hours, and 2 amp
12 hours or so. As a battery charges the amp meter on the charger should go
down. Like I said more information is needed to give good answers.
