While most portable gps systems have basic functions such as voice
narrations to help direct you where to go, it's worth the time to
figure out exactly what other features you may need...

I finally decided on a HP Ipaq PDA and Garmin GPS 10 bluetooth
receiver when I needed a navigation solution. A pda has so many other
uses like listening to mp3's, watching downloaded movies, email, web
browsing.

Plus I didn't want a nav device hanging off my windshield in plain
view. The garmin 10 sits discreetly off to the side and I have the PDA
down in my change dish below the stereo.
