Holes in my water pump

I have a 1990 F150 Ford pickup.
Water is leaking from the water pump because some idiot drilled holes
in the pump near where the fan attaches to the shaft.  There is a hole
on the top and the bottom in the pump casting.  Leave it to Ford to
design junk like this.   I can only guess that these holes are there
from the casting process and they forgot to patch them afterwards.
I'm going to try to fill the holes with JB Weld, but first I got to
get out all the coolant.

Those are weep holes.  When they leak that's telling you that coolant is
leaking around the shaft seals.  You need a new water pump.  If you try to
plug the holes, you'll just make things worse.

This summer, I changed the water pump myself on my 1991 Crown Victoria.  It
cost me about $100 for the pump, coolant, four hoses, clamps, and etc.

Are you referring to the weep holes that leak coolant when the seals
start to go bad?

You've got to remember that the engineers must design a product that
is extremely cheap to
mass produce and be somewhat durable at the same time. Since you did
some name-calling here, how would YOU design it so that it would be
long lasting and cheap to manufacture?
