The latest records indicate that there is only one car with
the claim to the title of World's Fastest Honda Civic. That
car happens to belong to automotive writer Richard Holdener
and it is currently available for sale on eBay
http://atu.ca/FastestCivic

Richard's Lucas Oil-sponsored 1999 Honda Civic Si ran a top
speed of 227.7 mph back in August of this year. Despite the
Civic's ability to produce 728 hp at 29 psi of boost, the
record was achieved with only 15.2 psi. Inherently weak
stock Honda CV joints were apparently the hold-up in laying
down the full power band. It certainly wasn't due to any
failure of the engine components, since the parts list
reads like a roll call of some of the best names in the
American Honda tuning game. Any small-displacement four
cylinder engine tuned to output in excess of 700 ponies has
to be stocked to the gills with improvements. The cost to
own this piece of history, and the potential to make some
of your own, starts at $21,777.77. The car's located in Las
Vegas, Nevada, so those must be some lucky 7's in the price.

I dont know what acetone will do, but it is a good cleaning solvent so
it will clean your fuel system.  However it may or may not damage
rubber seals.

On the other hand, I know that Naptha increases engine power.  I was
told this by a race car driver.  Years ago, they added moth balls to
gas for race cars.  Moth balls either contain naptha, or did some sort
of conversion to the gas to add naptha (not sure of the details).
Anyhow, in the late 80's I worked for a company that repaired rubber
roofing.  There was a 55gallon drum of naptha in the shop, and it was
used to clean the rubber before applying the adhesive.  Every time we
did a roof, we would fill a few gallon containers with the naptha to
take to the job.  At the end of the job, if there was any left over
naptha, I'd dump it in my gas tank.  I was amazed at the increased
power I got.  At the time I was driving a 79 chevy with a 350
carbureted gasoline engine.  I never had any problems with the carb or
fuel pump.  Of course you can not add much.  I added about a pint to a
tank of gas.  If I had more leftovers, I would take it home in my own
jug for my next tankful of gas.  Naptha is also a good cleaing
solvent.

Isn't there a funny running in Oz that runs at or near 300?  Civic
body, Keith Black engine.

Okay, sort of Civic body.
