In Pg ( Msia ) 2 stations' pumps gave me less qty than what I
pay for, per my fuel gauge. Most stations' pumps can give
correct qty only if 1 can pump very slowly i.e. if the pump /
its owner allows.
1 station has a pump which lets 1 pump slowly & get slightly
> correct qty, but another pump does not allow slow pumping
i.e. gives < correct qty.
Ideal is a pump with a calibrated & transparent tube / tank, so
buyer can see that he will get correct qty, before he pipes this
qty into his car's fuel tank. Then any adulteration can be visible too : [i] I read 1 station owner put diesel into petrol tank by
mistake, 10 customers then pumped diesel into their cars
which then stalled after leaving this station. [ii] in 3-94 & 12-
01 I got adulterated petrol ( noise rose, torque dropped ).
How govnmnts can let oil companies sell petrol w-o any
compulsorily transparent tube / tank, amazes me.

When govnmnt checks these pumps' accuracies, their owners
will pump very slowly to get correct quantities, but most
consumers have no time / knowledge to do this, so the short
falls are kept by station owners ; vapourised ( from fast
pumping ) petrol is piped back to storage tanks, I read.
