MAZDA 626 - PROBLEM

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem with any MAZDA car.   I
have a 1999 626 with the following problem...

When I drive up a hill in 5th gear (yes it is a 5 speed), or merge onto
highway traffic, or try to quickly accelerate, I get a small hesitation in
the car as if I had an automatic transmission and it was shifting gears.

The car is a 4 cylinder.   Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem
could be?   I had one person mention the O2 Sensor  and a dealer mentioned
(after I described the problem over the phone) that he thought it might be
the ignition coils?????

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Steve

You should try downshifting to fourth before you accelerate .. those engines
like to be running at high rpm's.  Otherwise you load them up with unburned
fuel which, over time, can cause them whole system to carbon up, which can
cause poor performance .. one symptom would be hesitating when accelerating.

I've had engines hesitate under high loads when a fuel filter is blocking
up.
