Hi All,
I just bought a 1995 Ford Contour and I am
afraid I might have made a big mistake. It
was (at the time) a deal I didn't want to
miss, seemed like a well taken care off car
only 70,000 miles.
After I bought it I drove it for the first
time on the highway and there it happened,
once I go over 65 mph it starts shaking and
of course it's getting worse once I go faster.
I brought it to a tire place and asked if that
might be a balance problem, they agreed and
balanced the tires. I took it, went on the highway and
it still did the same thing. So I brought it back.
They took a closer look, switched around tires and
told me it should be better but it needs an alignment.
So I let them do that and of course paid for it.
When I got it back they said the problem is not fixed
and they think it might be a transmission problem.
I tried to get to a transmission place but they were
already closed for the weekend.
Now the car is not only doing what it did before but it
is worse. Whenever I hit the brakes it makes a sound almost
like there is a flat tire or, can't hardly explain it. Like
a thumb thumb thumb, loud. Also now when I go into a curve
a right curve, there is some kind of metallic clink. Also wasn't
there before. The tires are as good as new, it's not them.
Does anybody have an idea? A suggestion?
Thanks
Christina

My father has one and there was a recall on the coil springs.
