In January Ford issued a recall of 800,000 vehicles. But I just heard
from a guy whose car (a 2000 Navigator) caught fire in his driveway a
few days ago. He hadn't heard about the recall. That is why I am
mentioning it here.
If you have a Ford with cruise control, it could catch fire. The fires
originate in the electrical system, and can occur even when the ignition
is OFF. Many fires have occurred with the car parked at home in the
garage, and some of those have destroyed the whole house. Have a look
at http://www.flamingfords.info
Be careful.

Both Ford and GM have had problems in the past with ignition switches
and other components over heating and flaming up. If people are
concerned they should stay tuned to recalls on their vehicles.
I remember a new Escort burning up on the dealer's lot one time because
the terminal on the relay mounted on the fender got too close to the
ground.

Hah! :-) Yeah buddy. I need a lawyer after looking at that website!
Burned out my retinas!
It seems that something that car mfgs have been doing for 80 years like
ignition, could be done so that the car doesn't burn to the ground.
www.trailblazerclub.com has some facts and info about the GM ignition
recall.
