I'm considering posting an ad on ebay motors but looking at previous
auctions, I see that many sellers insist on cashiers' checks or money
orders and don't allow Paypal.

Is there some commission or penalty they are trying to avoid? I would
think Paypal is a no-sweat way to get paid.

Paypal charges buisnesses a tranaction fee based on a percentage.

Maybe PayPal, in addition to charging fees for its services based on
price, could possibly provide a backout-option like the credit card
companies (they represent) do when a buyer becomes dissatisfied with a
purchase.  Note that I said *could possibly*.
Another reason may be the timing of getting paid--in the transactions
I've paid for using PayPal, P.P credits the seller's account.  It seems the
seller then has to wait a bit to access the actual funds.  s

How in the world you arrived to such conclusion???
It is utterly against the fact.  Paypal is #1 and usually only pay option,
also on my own Ebay ads even if previously I reseited creating another
account/UserID/password with yet another financila institution, life's too
short, but in 2002 I broke down and rceated it, since then I understood
there's no other way to pay but Paypal

"Note that I said *could possibly*."  That represents NO conclusion
other than possibly inferred fear by some SELLERS, not PAYORS.   I'm sure
there are sellers who have had cc-companies deny payment when a purchase was
disputed by the buyer.  If, IF they associate PayPal, which is an
intermediary between cc-companies and buyer/seller, they could, COULD fear
some non-existent  similar action MAY be available to buyers.
Now: I agree that it is a GREAT way to BUY on i'net and from unknown
sellers--esp. in that you do not give out your cc# to anyone(except PayPal,
of course: but I trust them, as I do my banks).  I've ordered from many
sellers using P'pal where I would not have if I had to use my cc directly.
Likewise, on Ebay, I've avoided considering products from some sellers who
required use of credit cards only!  Had they accepted PayPal, I may have
bought their product.
And if I were to set up as a seller on the i'net, accepting Paypal would
be one of my 1st priorities!!!
Hope this clears up any misunderstanding.  s
