Does anyone know where the convertible top electronic module is located in a
BMW Z3?  The top does not go up and down, I have a new module, but I don't
know where to put it.

Thanks in advance for any information,

Ken

I didn't know that the Z3 came with a power top option, both mine and
my girlfriends Z3 are manual. Hers is new, mine is a 2003. In fact when
I was shopping for mine I don't think I ever saw one with a power top.
Anyway most power tops on American cars just have a up/down switch and
raised and lowered by way of electric hyd. pump and rams in the trunk.
I have no idea where you would put something like that in the "Z", I
have almost no room with CD changer in the trunk .

Yep.  This one has a little brain.  You just push the button once and it
goes all the way up or down.  The module is only about 4 to 6 inches long
and an inch or so wide.  Installation is easy, just one connector and one
mounting screw. I just wish I new where to screw it.

Ken, could it be behind one of the trunk side panels, or straight back
in the trunk behind that panel? Maybe near the battery in the trunk!?

Toolman:

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look.
However, I made a mistake.  You don't just push the button once and the top
goes all the way up or down, you have to hold the button until the top gets
where you want it to be.  The car belongs to my girlfriend so I double
checked today and got the right scoop.

Thanks again,

Ken
