Trade the car in for a Ford Taurus!!!!!

If you cannot afford Premium for a Mercedes.......

.....you should not have a Mercedes.

If your engine is tuned for premium then it really needs it to run
efficiently.  Some engines have a knock sensor that will adjust the
tuning so regular doesn't destroy the engine with spark knock or
pinging, some don't.

I usually compare gas mileages between the different fuels.  I drive a
Jeep CJ7 with the aerodynamics of a brick so a little difference has
effect.  My engine is manually set up with no knock sensor.

If I use ESSO 91 octane gas that has no alcohol in it, I can get over
350 miles to a tank and it has tons of power to hold 70+ mph up any
hill.  If I run regular gas or any gas with any amount of alcohol in it,
I am out of gas before I reach 250 miles and it struggles to hold 65 on
the flats even if there is any wind.  It is like I lose the bottom half
of the gas pedal.

That is a 100 mile per tank difference!  In my case with a 20 gallon
tank, it costs about $7.00 difference for the 91 octane vs the regular
plus the performance difference is radical in my case.
