A Very Small Car Wanted

I have a parking space of 140" (11ft 8") available and would like to know
of any new car currently available in the USA that will fit it.  A Mini is
3.1" too long and the Yaris hatchback 11" too long.  Is there anything new
and non-grey which is smaller than the Mini?  I see the Smart is announced
to be available through official channels next year, but wonder whether I
need to wait for that.

If you are willing to go with a used car, there are several that
might fit. The Subaru 360 comes to mind, as does the BMW Isetta, and
the Goggomobil.  (The Subaru would probably the easiest to find as they
were actively imported here from 1968 through 1970.)

Thanks Roger but for reasons of both safety and reliability this purchase
must be of a car which must be either new or at least very modern.

In that case you probably will have to wait for the "smart car" to be
available here. I can't think of anything new currently available in the
U.S. that would suit your needs. (Newest might be something like the
3-cylinder Chevy Sprint or Subaru Justy from 15-20 years ago, even they
might be too large.)

Thanks, I thought so too.  So I've now paid Roger Penske his refundable
$99 to get on the reservation list for a Smart ForTwo Passion next year.
