Most times when I hear a reference to "front clip", it's talking about
the "clip" shaped section of bodywork on the front end - Left and right
fenders, and the nose-piece that joins them, perhaps (but not always)
including any kind of "mount it to the car" hardware/structures, or
bracing members that might be involved. I'm assuming that the
terminology comes from the fact that, when removed from a car as a unit,
and viewed from above, these pieces end up forming an aassembly that
looks somewhat like an oversized hair-clip.

I have a one piece front clip on my Jeep CJ7.

This is everything front of the cowl below the windshield forward.

Mine is nice, it lifts up like a normal hood taking everything with it.
I can sit on the front tire to change spark plugs.
