I have a 88 Iroc with a 305 TPI.  The car has 149,000 miles on it.  Would i
benifit from switching to a synthetic oil?  If so what kind.  I live in
seattle so it doesn't get very cold.  One issue that i have is that my valve
seals leak moderatly.  Would using a synthetic make it worse?

Far too late in the life of your vehicle to move to a synthetic, IMHO.  You
can try to wean your car from petroleum/paraffin based oils using Mobil's
new petrol/synth mix, but frankly if you change your oil when needed you'll
be just fine.  When your powerplant craps out in another 50-75K mi.  then
might be a good time to change to synthetic.
