Hey,
i have got a 91 Camaro 3.1L v6...
About a year ago I had the fuel pump and filter replaced.
Since the car has been a been slow to start and often a little sluggish on
the freeway.
Today, after normal starting I was on my way home stopped at a red light,
when the light turned green I hit the gas to go i went maybe 20yards and the
car stalls out.
I then trow it into neutral and try to start it on the go, nothing. i then
roll it into a parking spot.
I turn the key and the car cranks the first couple tries the car souded like
it was going to turn over but ntohing still.
This made me think possibly fuel starvation.
i assumed it was my fuel pump...but when i went back after work 3hours later
i could hear the fuel pump activate when the key was turned.
Now i am at a complete loss.
Any ideas, I'd rather fix this myself than fork out hundreds at a shop(seems
to cost me $400-600 everytime something goes wrong)
Thanks
Jeremy

My Blazer did the same thing a while back. Turned out to be the HEI
module. No one in town had a tester and I couldn't return it once it was
installed, I trouble shot EVERYTING else first, some places have testers,
call around.

NAPA dealers have a tester... But, mine tested good
and would only fail after the engine got hot on a hot
day with a lot of slow driving... After a while it
finally failed completely which proved it was bad..
Top of a mountain pass in the middle of nowhere.. Summer
at least...

How many fuel pumps does this have? Some systems have two...an in-tank pump
that is high volume, low pressure, and an in-line pump that is low volume,
high presure. If this is the case then one might be working while the other
is dead...
Either way (one or two pump), the way a lot of fuel injection systems work
nowadays is that they deliver more fuel than what the engine uses. A
pressure regulator sends the extra back to the tank. If that is going bad
causing low fuel pressure, you could have a fuel starvation problem.
Best suggestion is to get a manual, check the line pressure, and go from
there once you have confirmed the pressure is or is not the problem... :)
