I have a 1999 camaro v-6 standard tranny 5 speed. When I start the car it
makes a chattering noise at idle. when I put in a gear and let off of the
clutch and give fuel it makes it louder. seems to get less noisy as the
engine warms up. I thought it was the rear end until it started doing this
at idle and not in gear. performance don't seem to be an issue. any help

Probably the throw-out bearing which you have to pull trans to look at clutch
and pressure plate

I would concur, based on info provided.

had the dealer check it out and it was the catalytic converter????? I have
never heard one make that kind of sound. Well federal emissions warranty
paid for the repair-and the noise is gone.
