I'm putting a 350 into a 85 Camaro that had the icky 2.8 V-6 in it. ANY
information is appreciated. Nothing is aligning up, the onlything I figured
out so far is the engine mounts are going to need to be scooted up to the
front bolt holes, are they the same brackets I use?
do I need to get different ones?
I have no ideal what the engine came from, just a 350 with 305 double hump
heads and 4 brl. hydrojet carb. Electronic distributor (is that ok? or do I
need to go to the older distr. to get more clearance?
Do I need to cut into the firewall to clear the distr?
will the tranny work? I dont know what it came from, its a 350 turbo.

Guys, any help is so much appreciated, nothing is of too small of detail,
every piece of information is helpful.
I noticed on the tranny cross member/mount, there are different locations to
bolt the bracket the tranny mounts to, but if I moved it, it takes a longer
bracket because the bolt holes are in a \--o--/ pattern, the bracket I have
is 21 inches long for the tranny. Seri, any info is appreciated, its driving
me crazy, I have this 350 dangling inside the car from a motor lift, nothing
is working for me. Thanks in advance

Why not post it out here in the open, so that others could benefit from the
answers?

You'll need different mounts. Ideally, a donor V8 car would be best...

actually I dont really care for any of the car lol. Its a project I should
have never got involved in. I'll never show this car off, and it will never
get a ohhh-ahhh. I just want to work with what I've got, so I can drive the
piss out of the car up and down my road. More than likely, it will never be
tagged agian.

I have the engine mounts from a V8, but do I need to
use the bottom half of the engine mounts from a V-8 also? or can I just use
the bottom portion of the motor mounts from the v6 and move them up on the
frame?
Richard - 22 Jun 2004 01:51 GMT
you need to use the v-8 mount in the forward position.

I spent the last of the day moving the motor mounts up to the front part of
the frame, what an easy task GM made of this *sarcasm*. I enjoyed fishing a
wrench through a 1" access hole. I will possibly try to sit the motor back
in on Thursday, its going to rain tomorrow. Anything else you guys can think
of before I sit this motor back in would be appreciated. this is the 3rd
time this motor has been put in and removed because of "something else"
needing to be done. BTW, I am doing the motor and tranny at the same time, I
have not unbolted it.(if that makes a difference)
