The only thing that's left out in that nice tutorial is;
Be sure to use a bunch of tape on the drill bit to create a "ledge"
Wrap a bunch of tape around the drill bit, Just Leave The Tip Exposed!
This will keep you from putting a nice hole in the outside door skin
when the
bit gets through the rivet head and the rivet pops out..
I just put these weatherstips on my '94 last week.

i just did this today.. i left the speaker boxes in the doors and put
rockford fosgate 4 inch speakers in them.. i drilled a hole in the box to
feed the new wire throught... disconnected the box from the door... ran the
speaker wire and then reconnected the box to the door... put in the new
speakers and reinstalled the bose speaker grill... i also replaced the back
speakers with rockardfosgate 6x9's and put a pioneer head unit that took up
the complete radio space... sounds real good... much better than the bose
set-up....

I did exactly the same thing, with exactly the same speakers, and the
indented grill from the Bose speakers promptly wrecked the Rockford
Fosgate tweeters. Better check yours, and make sure it hasn't dimpled
the tweeter domes...
Pull the Rockfords, put in JBL's (mistake...what pieces of junk) and
switched to 4" Audiobahns. Very nice. Quick note: with minor sawing,
round 5 1/4" speakers fit in there very nicely. It's a huge area,
actually. I'm thinking of putting some nice Pioneers in there.

Dumb question as a friend of mine wants some help doing about the same on
his 87. The Amp is in the door ? Not under the passenger seat ?

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP! yes the amps are seperate with all the
speakers. just another way to make personal changes a pain in the a.s. i
think i'll take the advice and run new wires, but i'm a little confused about
which speakers to use.
as far as the door seal/sweep goes the best advice is "be careful with
the drill bit" taking out the rivets.
