Front shock advice

First question:  does the "bounce test" really work for a C3?  It seems to
me that my car doesn't have enough play in the suspension to get it bouncing
in the first place.  My Chilton's and Hanes manuals both recommend it, but
it seems difficult, at best.

Second question:  Is there another way to know that you need to replace
shocks?  (Is the fact that my car is 25 years old enough of a reason?)

Last question:  What's your favorite brand... and why?

Thanks!
Ryan

I have Edelbrocks on my C4.Why? I think they look cool. The smoother ride I get
is just an added bonus.

Bilstein Sport Shocks because they improve the ride and handling, and,
are of highest quality.  Big improvement over stock shocks on a C3
