I have had my Corvette console and dash torn apart today (trying to undo all
of the crap the previous owner had done which I won't get into because it
makes my angry).  While having the dash apart I found lots of goodies
including some sockets, a screwdriver, an adjustable wrench, money, and an
item I can't identify.

The unidentified item concerns me because, unlike the rest of the stuff I
found, I think it may actually belong in the car.  I'm hoping one of you
experts will take one look at it and know what it is.

The following link should take you to a photo:

Thanks!

It's a pot pipe of a sort.  Yhe car works better
without it.
RWDoyle - 27 Jun 2004 02:00 GMT
LOL.  Serious?  I can definitely see how it could be a pot pipe, now that I
look at it in that context.  Now it makes sense why the previous owner left
so many tools in the car!

I doesn't look like it belongs to Corvette. No wires or anything to
suggest that it's even remotely connected to a car.

When first viewing it, it almost appeared to be a gas operating piston
from  a M-14 but after looking at it, I would have to agree with the
others with being some type of crack pipe.

Shut up, dave.
Professional driver on a closed course.  Do not attempt.
Actual mileage may vary.

Ok.  I get the picture.  It's drug paraphernalia.  That's definitely
something I'm not an expert on!

I think I'll still put it in my parts bin just so I can laugh at my naivety
once in a while.

Well, now that the "experts" have spoken I have been able to completely
prove that it is, indeed, a "one hitter."  Here's where you can buy them:

exposure.  :)

Today they teach crack 101 in school.

Spend some of my free time (have lots of it) at my local self-serve junk
yard.....never know what you'll find in some cars....passports, credit
cards, green cards, baggies of weed, little bags of crack (I live near
Oakland, Cal), diamond rings, wedding bands, folding money..it's like a
treasure hunt

Once found 3.3 gm. (an eight ball of Methadrine/speed) in a wrecked
Honda with many empty beers cans.....Figured some dude was drunk,
totaled his ride, stashed the dope in the console before getting
arrested and never saw the car again....

Nope I didn't keep it, gave it to the dopers down the street

Hey Ken:

What's the attachment with your post?  Looks like a virus kind of thing...

His signature is HTML, but the body of the message is plain text.  Your
newsreader decided to tell you that the HTML was an attachment.  Notice his
messages without a signature don't have the attachment designation (at least
they don't for me).

In this case... nothing to worry about.

It's a short html code used to put the anti-establishment rant into
italics, but it's not a virus..Will leave it off from now on

HAhahahaha..."dood, where's my car?".  Maybe you should call the guy you
bought the car from and ask him if he lost "anything".  Maybe not...he
could have forgotten that he sold the car and thinks it's stolen.
Meantime, keep searching the car until you find the bag of weed that
goes with that thing.  Better YOU find it than "somebody" else :o)  "But
officer, I SWEAR that's not mine!".  Reminds me of my trip through
Canadian customs the day I bought a car from somebody...long story...

Hey Ryan...did you look under the seats yet?  9mm automatic, syringe,
stolen credit cards, etc., etc.

Yup.  I actually took the seats out and steam cleaned the carpet.  I found
over $5 in change and some candy wrappers from the 80's.  Nothing very
interesting.
