Just took the '67 out the other day... I usually just listen to the side
exhaust with the windows wide open - no better music than that. BUT the
radio is always tuned to an oldies station - always has been, during the
25 years I've owned the car, no matter where I've lived. Just seems
fitting on the rare occassions when the radio is on.

In my daily driver Toyota or Honda, the radio is practically 100% AM
talk - that is, when my 5 year old doesn't want to listen to JD's Rocky
Mountain High, Shania Twain, CCR, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band or Shedaisy.

Just curious the era of radio programming the rest of you listen to vs.
the era of your Corvette when tooling around.

NPR in the am - ipod to cassette converter to Monsoon system in the pm -
normally ethnic Ozomatli, Yothu Yindi, Ofra Haza, Ash Dargan or Jonny Clegg.

(I was litening to Static-x, when I was pulled over for 93 in a 40 - there's
a lesson in there somewhere).

just cruisin (oldies, 50's-70's).

Rock and roll from the 60's to 80's.
194377'n'1Z37W2 - 22 Jul 2004 06:58 GMT
> Rock and roll from the 60's to 80's.

Does the '80's era match your car? (That was the real question.) Are
folks with mid-years just stuck groovin' to the '60's? Do those tooling
around in a late '70s tap their fingers on the wheel to Disco Duck or
Donna Summer?

Is it a subtle indication of your personality? The era of the car, the
era of the music and the times you feel most attracted to? Coming of age
perhaps? Someone you know who influenced your Corvette interest and a
connection via the tunes of the time?

Though I'm more a product of the mid to late '70s, I love the music of
the '60s and early '70s. Folk groups, CCR, NGDB, The Grass Roots,
America, Don McLean - they're all great... and my cars match this era.

Owen, I have a '63 roadster and while I like the oldies on the very odd
occasion, you are most likely to hear Radio Head, U2, Pearljam and a lot of
current alternative rock coming from my car.  There's too much good music
out there today to get stuck in a 60's timewarp!

ME: Here you go my freind ----

10 Ways You Can Overcome Anger
by Steve Arterburn

----------------------------------------------
1. One of the key steps to overcoming anger is to identify the object of
your anger. Many people who struggle with chronic anger aren't even sure
what they're angry about. When you identify what you're angry about you
can begin the process of dealing with it.
2. One of the goals of an angry person can be to draw attention to
themselves. They often feel that negative attention is better than
noattention at all. If you don't feel loved or needed, this may be a
root cause of your anger.
3. Accept the fact that most things in the world are out of your
control. If you try to continually control your family, friends or
circumstances you will find the result frustrating.
4. The root of your anger may lie in a lack of forgiveness. If you've
never forgiven someone who's hurt you, you're caught in a vicious trap
that will ultimately destroy you.
5. Many who struggle with anger hate themselves. Self-hatred can be used
as a tool to control your emotions. You may need to learn new skills to
control your emotions in a positive way.
6. You may be angry about things your family or friends have done to you
in the past, even decades ago. This is called residual anger. It is
possible to resolve this anger and move on with your life, but you must
be willing to spend time identifying the root of your problem and
choosing to forgive those who have hurt you.
7. There are some legitimate physical causes for anger. If you suspect
your problem may be related to a chemical imbalance in your body, be
evaluated by a qualified psychiatrist.
8. In truth, no one can "make you angry," even though they can provoke
you. You can control your response to people and circumstances.
9. There is a place for "righteous anger," when one of God's principles
is violated. Scripture does admonish us to "not let the sun go down on
our anger" though. In other words, when you feel angry, it is important
to deal with it and move past it as soon as possible.
10. If you or a family member is struggling with anger issues, they're
not likely to go away by themselves. It is necessary to identify the
cause of the anger and take proactive steps to resolve it. Help is
available, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. New Life Ministries has
resource materials about anger and we have caring Christian
professionals available to speak with you. You can contact us at
1-800-NEW-LIFE.

ME: Owen,  since my back window is removable in my 1970 BB, i too just
enjoy listening to the sound of my headers clacking away and the deep
raspy tone of the exhaust accentuated by the high lift long duration
roller cam ;  however, when i want to hear a few tunes, i listen to
either my contemporary Christian tapes and/or, by Oldies tapes from the
1960-1970's .  I also have the radio preset to an Oldies station .  If i
hit the right rpms with my engine...i can sometimes create a rather nice
background  sound to compliment Oldies Songs whereas the singer is
singing in a  lower than normal range :)    --- takes the right combo of
mufflers/headers/cam/and 'x' crossover pipe to do it though :)

Radio?  Oh yea, I got one of those.  I can't hear squat over the side
pipes though.  The speakers are shot too so I can't even listen to it
when the engine is off.  The amazing part is that it's 36 years old and
still works.  That being said, if I could I would be listening to:

Jazz (although the only "real" jazz station in NY went off the air a
while ago so it's hard to find)
60's-70's -- rock Zeppelin, Beatles, Who, etc.
Talk Radio
Gospel--Blind Boys of Alabama, etc.

The Gospel music I discovered recently.  I happened to catch the Blind
Boys on Lenno one night.  I was feeling mellow and they came on singing
"Go Tell it on the Mountain".  Man, it rocked...they were great (I
recommend going to Amazon Dot Com and hearing that track).  Anyway, I
happened to mention it work.  A women (who is married to a guy that has
been friends with BB King since they were teenagers and plays with his
band from time to time), gave me copies of his favorite selections.
Nineteen CDs worth!  I play them when I'm in the basement airbrushing.
As goofy as it sounds, I find the Gospel stuff inspiring when I'm doing
my airbrush stuff.

I saw the Blind Boys of Alabama supporting Peter Gabriel. I asked someone
"where'd these guys come from" - "they've been together 60 years" was the
reply. "OH" I said - it was the best response I could think of.

If you like music & don't care about labels - if you have a chance to see
these guys - go see the Blind Boys - THEY ARE AWESOME (Amazing Grace to
House of the Rising Sun tune kinda threw me for a moment). If you liked the
Blues Brothers, you'll like the Blind Boys.......8o)

Only "unknown" artist to come close to the same surprise as the Blind Boys
was Professor Longhair.

Like the real album rock stations I grew up with in the 60's-70's, where
you could hear hard rock, honkey tonk,
jazz all within a couple hours. Or hear a complete side of an album...

M - did you see the problem I have, when I DON'T listen to NPR - 93 in a 40
limit - criminal speeding. Fortunately, thanks to a good lawyer, I'm doing
defensive driving this Saturday, to get the charges dropped.

Personally - I hate people who drive fast cars slowly. I hate driving slowly
myself. But there comes a timne, when everyone has to manage their speed.

What is "upbeat"?  Only the most vicious funk matches a V-8 exhaust.
It is not a happy sound.  It is a nasty, meat-eating sound.

Geez, guess I'm glad I didn't mention the Rippingtons or some Pottery Barn
collection CDs.

Seriously - Bruce Springsteen, older Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye or
most anything Motown, the Beatles (Rubber Soul and later), Paul Simon,
Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, CSN&Y, Fleetwood Mac, Johnny
Lang, John Mellencamp.  Lots of stuff on Folkways Records.  I'm all over the
place.

I do listen to NPR too, but mostly in the daily driver, not so much in the
Corvette.

Yeah, it's all good, but I have no idea who Johnny Lang is.

My '88 IS my daily driver.  Got massive sub action in the back...a
disease I got from my kids.

Did you guys catch the documentary (on Showtime, I think) about the
"Funk Brothers"?  They are the guys that were the backup band for EVERY
Motown act that recorded at "Hitsville USA" (which is all of them).
Great footage, great interviews, great music.  BTW, this was a real
documentary, not some Michael Moore POS pretend documentary.

Shut up, Dave.
