I think we all have encountered this problem.....

Pop one fuse out of the fuse box at a time and measure the current
draw from you battery after removing the fuse..... that will at least
find your problem circuit...   Mine was the under hood light.....which
has not been on the car now for the last 15 years...end of problem !

I didn't find the drain on my car so ended up buying a battery "quick
disconnect" and just "disconnect" the battery after each ride.  The battery
seems fresh as a daisy for each start-up.  It can be purchased cheaper at
most auto parts stores than thru catalog stores which make you add  shipping
and handling charge to your money order.  Good luck.

Good point...especially for any car that is not driven much....

I have quick disconnects installed on all my Corvettes as well as the
Chevelle... HOWEVER ..  Those cheap 5 buck ones are NOT the type to
buy...  Spend the 30 bucks and get a good one...which does not just
clamp onto the battery terminal...  on C3's a perfect place to install
one is inside the center compartment right next to the battery...

Where did you find yours?

Every Town has a "Speed Shop"  or Preformance Center  .... Next time
you are at the drag strip and see a guy walk behind his car to turn on
the battery ask him.... lol

Honestly those cheap things that connect to the post of the battery
can be had at pep boys auto zoine etc for about 5 bucks   I have seen
buckets full of them at Carlisle selling for 2 bucks each....  even at
a dollar I would walk away...Just my opinion

Bob,

Not that I am shopping for one of these, but I am curious why you avoid the
cheap ones.  I'm all for buying quality, but your messages don't really
explain why you avoid them... just that you do.

One thing is that they clamp on to the battery post like a plain
cable..can loosen, can become corroded and make contack by a simple
screw mechanism that can and has (on one of my cars) vibrated loose

The 30 buck (expensive ?) ones are a real honest to goodness switch
Have real honest to goodness battery cables that attach to the battery
itself..

Honestly  spending 30 bucks to get a quality electric product was more
attractive to me...especially once I had both in my hands and compared
them...

Disconnect the positive from the battery and put a continuity test light
inline from the battery to the hot cable, the test light should illuminate
if you have a draw. Start pulling fuses until the light goes out..there's
your culprit.
