Last week there were some postings about insurance companies that were
collectable friendly, I made a note of them and lost it. Could someone
please repost info on insurance companies.

I missed the original thread, but to throw in my $.02 State Farm is the
only "conventional" insurance company that's any good with classics IME.
Now I've never made a claim so I can't speak to their service there
but otherwise I've been pretty happy.

If you have a completely enclosed, lockable garage (I don't) you may get
better rates with Grundy, JC Taylor, et. al.

I started a thread about American Collectors Insurance.

I'm changing the '72 over this week, $181 a half  old insurance versus $97 a
year American Collectors rate.

Before you sign up though, check out Hagerty.  Not only are they one of
the best for collectible cars, for an extra $15 a year you get 24 hour
roadside assistance, including flatbed towing if you need it.  I figured
since my car is 36 years old, $15 a year is nothing compared to the
peace of mind I get.

Shut up, Dave.

American Collectors includes towing..and spare parts  in your
premium.... But they only cover 25 bucks for towing, 500 bucks for
spare parts  ...not much.. thats for sure

No roadside assistance either ..   .BUT   I would pay more if the guy
who provided the assistance was a bartender

I have used it twice for different cars over the years  and as you can
guess it did not cover the total charges by a long shot.

BUT then again the coverage most likely would have gotten me off the
road to  behind some Farmers Barn at least..... I just want the car
off the road .....and moved to some  "safe" place...
.
The price is right ...  I can not say anything more......

+1 on the Hagerty recommendation. The have no mileage restriction,
"stated value" coverage (maybe it is "agreed" value), and the service
thus far has been very personal. My current claim for minor body damage
(see other thread "Estimated hours for minor fiberglass work") is
completely due to my own fault, and the first estimate was almost $2k.
Nevertheless, they approved payment within 24 hours of receiving the
estimate.
For my money, service is the most important part of this kind of
purchase. Every time I call I get a real person on the phone quickly and
they are always friendly and helpful.

Yup, I did have to use the flatbed service last summer [thought a rear
bearing went but turned out to be a broken off parking brake return
spring jammed between the shoe and the drum].  When I called in for help
they told me that they ONLY use towing services with good records
(whatever that means).  At any rate, the guy that showed up was super
careful with my car.  In other words, it wasn't "Bubba's Toeing Servis".

Shut up, dave.
Professional driver on a closed course.  Do not attempt.
Actual mileage may vary.

Ditto Diode.   Hagerty, easiest, quickest insutance I have ever done.  My 75
Vette and 72 Challenger. 180 for both for the year.  $10k each
