I need to get the door panel off so I can replace the door switch.  I have
the door panel all loose, but the center molding plastic is a bitch.  It has
to come out first.  I took out the center screw. I took the light bezel out,
got that screw loose behind it, and the whole molding starting to slide out.

But the lever with the zebra strip that unlocks/locks the door is the
mystery.  It seems like the knob is in the way, and stopping the molding
from sliding out.  But I don't know how to get that lever knob off.  I sit
supose to come off?

Anyone done?  Clue me into the secret?

Thanks,  Chris.

The lock knob is on a wire hook and will come off the hook by prying the
knob out and sliding it toward the front of the door.

There is a screw behind the lock zebra stripe lever.  Get a pick and
pull out the zebra stripe at the front edge and it will come off.  Then,
you will see another screw that was hidden behind it.  I assume you are
on the driver's door?  If you are you will have to take the screw off at
the back edge of the door.  I assume you got the two screws in the
handle area?  Anyway, you should be able to remove the door panel now.
Be sure to get a helper to hold the panel while you disconnect the
electrical connections.  And, be sure to lift up before you lift the
panel off.

You can try signing up with

and maybe get some service manual info from GM.
My service manual pg 10-6-3 says the inside handle bezel can be removed in 9
Remove or Disconnect steps.
1.  Courtesy lamp from accessory bezel by prying down on the top edge 1/2"
inboard of the corners and rotating the lamp downward and out.
2. remote control lock knob from rod, by prying knob outward.
3. Armrest filler- right door only.
4. Bezel screws. rt door 2 screws, left door 3 screws.
5. Pull inside handle outward. Reposition bezel.
6.  Courtesy lamp harness from wiring harness connector.
7. Harness electrical connector from door lock switch.
8. Bezel
9.  Transfer parts as necessary.

On the reinstall, for Bezel, install short screw in upper location and DO
NOT install a screw in right door behind lock knob.
The door trim panel is removed by pulling the trim panel out at the bottom
and then up out of the door alignment slots.  The window should be fully
lowered before doing this.
Good luck.  Sometimes you can get a local body shop to help advise you with
this kind of thing, especially if you are a former customer.
