I'm looking to buy a late 80's C4 and adding a fiberglass kit to make it
look more like a 96 around the front. I'm only looking on the web right now,
are there any kits or manufactures that are considered to be better and how
well do these kits standup after a few years of use?

I honestly do not understand WHY you are going thris route...?

I could understand if you already owned  a late 80's car.. BUT
the style you like was produced from 91 thru 96... why buy the late
80's car...then buy the bumper kits, then install and paint the
kits...just seems to me it would be cheaper to buy a 91 ...and be done
with it...

That Said I have always liked the kit produced by Larry Shinola
for the late 80's cars...   not a radical design ..BUT very good
looking in my opinion...
