A racing Elise versus a street Corvette.  There's a surprise in this one.  I
hope this link works.

Humm, that one's been around awhile, but did you notice the "speed bump"
they passed?

Well, sorry, haven't been around as long as the cynical others.  I posted it
because I thought there might be some interest in it, since it interested
me.  Motives notwithstanding, I am reminded to generally just not post
anything lest one step on the unseen toes that hide here.

Toes and cynicism has little to do with putting up a link to a site that
connects your identity to a porn site. Being around for awhile does not
necessarily make you cynical, sometime it allows you to be more informed. It
also helps to take it as information and not as a personal affront to have
replies like your post garnered.

Hang in there, it gets better/worse as the case may be.

I appreciate the comments from both you, Dad, and Vandervecken.  As for
having my identity somehow linked to a porn site (is it?  I just watched the
clip), it seems as if that is almost inevitable if one has a driving sense
of curiosity and surfs the web.  I hope none of it rubs off on me, but I
suppose it might.  It seems like almost anywhere I surf, porn is connected
somewhere.

While I suppose I did react personally, what I do think about sometimes is
how much I like this newsgroup and how much I learn from  my daily visits
over the past couple of years.  As a result, I sometimes curl my toes when a
poster gets a reaction that I'm sure he doesn't anticipate.  I think one of
the prime problems with a free and open forum like this is that it carries
the potential of doing harm to someone's enthusiasm.  Of course, by its
nature, that can happen, but enthusiasm about something is such a clear and
clean thing, I hope that posters continue to accord it the respect that I
mostly see here.

Thanks again for the comments and advice.  I take them as seriously as your
comments and advice regarding the Corvettes, which means with a great deal
of that same respect.

The Net gives us great access to information and communications, with
the con that a lot of the world it brings to us is not what any
particular person wants. With the Net it's harder to stay free of
whatever parts of the world we personally may find not to our liking.

If one follows a link seeking in interesting-sounding video clip and
discovers advertisements there that are [enticing | lewd | pornographic
] depending on one's outlook, just either leave the site or don't follow
the ads' links to their sponsors. Short of rather generous legal
boundaries, neither I nor anyone else has any right to restrict others'
choices of expressive material.

Think of it as being like making a wrong turn and finding oneself in a
neighborhood we'd never have dreamed of entering. Don't get mad at the
people who live or do business there, just turn around and leave.

Heck, there are people in my neighborhood who think cars like the
Corvette should be banned. They can think that all they want to, just
think it to themsleves, please.

YMMV, of course.

Well said and I'd like to add one little thing that could be changed.

When a post is to ask how to fix something and they get an answer they
should feel obligated to tell the group if it worked and if not what did
work. Those that do that are on my true gentleman's list because it
completes the reason for the group.

There has been more than one that have changed how I have done things, there
is always a different way, many are better.

As usual there seems to be a problem with reading what is written or
understand it very well. The issue is not sex, not being able to "rise above
it", what ever that means, I have an idea where porn is, thanks for that bit
of information, nothing was said about being offended. The only issue I
brought up was getting my web ID on a porn site I didn't want. I'll chose
when I want to put my identity on a porn site and when I want to rise above
anything. Try to comprehend what is written instead of what you want it to
say, and being a little less pompous would be a plus.

What ever happened to reading 101 and basic comprehension?

"Dad"
I have to use this "Dad" in quotations as I never had one personally. I
realize they are a necessity to bring life...but never had one to physically
to look at.
I wish to apologize for my pompous attitude............reading 101 and
basic comprehension that you find offensive.
My mearly asking you to 'Rise above it"...is to see beyond the garbage on
the side which WAS porn.... and appreciate what the Corvette and what the
Corvette video had to offer....
Putting your 'ID" on a porn site in this situatation would be seen as
nothing more than driving though 'hookers avenue" while going for the
groceries for your wife.. If these things made you feel so insecure as to
just 'think' you have SEEN a porn site  or have BEEN SEEN?...Oh Good
Lord...I think I am turning to stone
I appreciated the Video......who cares if the video is plastered with
porn.. I know what I came to see...

   Warmest regards.....
  Jim...

oops...forgot and you'll have to teach me how to do this so I"ll just type
it out as this seems to be the norm here as my signature:

Jim
  1977 corvette

Big house...lots of other stuff......

So sad, he must have foreseen your ability or lack thereof to read and
comprehend simple sentences.

Which "side" was that?

So you saying that all of those "hooker houses" would then send me mail? If
I find that I have driven into "hooker avenue" I make it a point not to go
back through there as my needs don't include that profession. Are you
getting any closer to understanding why I go where I want to and not to
unwanted sites?

>If these things made you feel so insecure as to

If insecure means I don't need more email spamm then I must learn how the
tremble, or I could blindly continue to frequent sites that exist just to
pickup new addresses. There must be at least the comprehension part of your
thinking that has already turned to stone.

So now this is a house and other stuff news group? Your comprehension skills
are degrading as we type.
