is getting back on the road.
We would like to know of any Auto Wreckers reasonably close to the
Canadian border (central Canada...Manitoba to be exact).....   Anyone out
there in 'puter land want to help a Cannuck out?....Would be greatly
appreciated.....Jim

If I needed a  lot of parts I would seriously look to buy a complete
basket case car...depending on just what parts I needed...most parts
are the same for all c3's...  buying a lot of parts 1 at a time thru a
salvage yard can really do a number on your budget....

Just an idea...

There is a place on eBay that I believe bought out Lincoln Corvettes a few
years ago.  Pacific Corvette or something like that.  I can't remember the
eBay ID right now, but you can find him peddling fiberglass panels a lot.

Another thought is check Hemmings and the Corvette magazines for upcoming
Corvette swap meets and plan of spending a long weekend.

The Winter Regional in Orlando (Old Town in Kissimmee) is getting to be a
fairly decent sized meet and a chance to thaw out of the Great White North.

EBay constantly has parts and project cars listed, but many go too high for
what they are.  Still, sometimes the buyer is just after one thing and you
can follow up to maybe find your parts.

Thank-you Tom and Bob G for your input. My brother is looking for a
steering column for his '81 and also a pair of T-tops. The rest of the car
is a 'peach" .
To buy a wreck donar car would only mean an eye sore for
the neighbours.........We are both veterans of Ecklers and Corvette Central
(The latter is where we usually buy)...BTW I have a '77 vette(mint).... I
was just hoping to get him a number for a wrecker in the North Dakota or
South Dakota area... Perhaps Montanna or Iowa.
We are slated to go on a goose/duck hunting trip next week together
and I thought it would be nice to pass on some names and numbers to him.
Thanks also for mentioning E-bay...I am no stranger to
that place either.

Again....if anybody has a referrence to any USA wreckers close to Canada
that have a few vettes I would appreciate  names or numbers... Thank you
group...Jim

They're not near Canada, but they ship worldwide.  Big yard, loads of
wrecks.

Gosh Jim:

I was under the impression that your brother needed a lot of
parts.... A steering column and a set of t-tops is actually a very
small list ....

Forgot the name of the company (Junk Yard...Salvage yard etc) but it
is located in Bristol Pa...and they advertise in all the Corvette mags
is one that I have delt with more then a few times all with good
results...   Shipping to Canada should be possible...

You and your brother also should check out the C3 registry..
(www.C3VR.com ) .for only 10 bucks a year for a standard membership
it is a fantastic source of information, advice, AND help...   Just
ask your question and I bet you get the info you wanted...

Personally I upgraded my membership to a Lifetime membership
simply because it was such a great source of information...

Lots of luck to both you and your brother...

Thanks again for your input guys....I did a google search of "Auto
Salvage Bristol Pa" and come across lots of car recyclers...then I tripped
across this site called  car-part.com and think I am on to something...
there is a search engine where we can just type in the part we're looking
for and it comes up with the part and where it is in the USA...I think this
will do us fine .....
This is off the topic so will warn anybody that may take
offense...............this is a car enthusiest site so am taking a long shot
and will probably get flamed...... but am also looking for a '56 Ford
Sunliner convertible skelton top and the lifting rams for another brother
(he owns an autobody shop....semi-retired and has collected nine '56 Fords
and is making one driver out of all those wrecks)...I apologize to the group
if mentioning this car offends anyone....Just that I have done all the Ford
NG sites and old car NG's also...can't find a damned thing....Thought there
could be an "old car guy" here.....
If anybody has info would appreciate an E:mail rather than it being
discussed further on this NG thread at
.................................pipeliner-at-canoemail-dot-com.....end of
that subject.
I typed in my other brothers '81 Corvette steering
column in this car-parts website and it came up with a whole pile of what
I'm looking for. I just have to dig out a map and find the closest one to
Canada... Thank-you Bob for mentioning the C3 registry. I have visited that
site from your URL and will look into it further.... Regards....Jim

Do a search for a yard in the Simpsonville S.C. area, he says he puts them
on eBay once in a while but he has a big yard full of '40s through '70s that
are in all conditions. I was in there once when I was down to my sons
looking for some Corvette bows that I needed for a '69 convertible. If I get
a chance to look up his address I'll post it but the receipts went with the
car.
