I was visiting my local Chevrolet dealer today, looking to try and get a Z-06. He is currently out of stock but has 5 or 6 more coming in, but he offered me one of his 2 special edition Ron Fellow's Z- 06's..... at $79,500 with nav. I put a deposit down to hold it til tomorrow, when it will be rolling in off the transporter and I can see it in real, and I have the right of first refusal, so it's mine if I decide to buy it. My question is, should I pop for this and put it in a bubble, sit on it a few years and hope for the price to go up due to limited production, or drive the crap out of it as I would have a normal Z- 06? I realize it's just a paint and equipment thing, but the very low number production Corvettes tend to have a certain collectability and value increase and I'd hate to miss out on that. Do you guys think it is worth investing the $80k in a crap shoot? Or just say the hell with it and drive it like it's nothing special? The next question is what will happen to that value when the super Corvette comes out? Take a look at the prices on the past Z06 and it will be about the same loss. Look at all those poor fools that paid $100,000 to get a ZR1 that is now worth less then the interest the money would have earned with a much better collectable Corvette. However, the 2006 Z06, even with 3500 miles or less is holding it's price at Ebay. The car is already traction limited in 1st gear, which is good for 61mph. I own a 2006 Z06, and like many owners, I'm hoping for a better tire to come out for the car, the current choices are the OEM run flats, or Hoosier A6/R6 DOT road racing slicks. I also own a Suzuki Hayabusa motorcyle, and 1st gear on the Busa runs to 81mph. Not sure what a 650hp car would need to be geared to. $79,500? Jump on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MSRP is 100k. My dealer is trying to get me one and I don't know what the price is. I guarantee (well maybe!) you could sell it on Ebay for more than that. The Ron Fellows edition is a no cost option to a standard Z06. Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Champion Edition Z06 Package, includes red console, lower door trim and instrument panels, red leather armrest with crossed flags each individually signed and numbered by Ron Fellows, tech patterned center trim plate, body-color outside door handles, full width body-color racing spoiler, special fender graphics, windshield banner and a certificate of Z33 authenticity (Z33) The idea of a Ron Fellows is that the stealership can get MSRP (or higher) because it is very limited. With that said, if you want a Z06 and you insist on paying retail rather than doing some shopping to get a much better price, then MSRP on this one as described looks to be $79,250 and if you can get it for $250 over MSRP, I would. But I would never consider MSRP when there are so many dealers significantly under MSRP. BTW, Spud, you're thinking of the Blue Devil at $100K. Right now that car is no more real than the mid-engine Corvette that was supposed to be out in the 70's. Maybe GM will build it and maybe they won't. Only 399 are to be built. But, I guess it's like the Mustang California Special in 68 (?), it's just a paint job. Here's one on Ebay, the Buy It Now is only $20k over MSRP. haha. Weird shade of white Wound up buying a '06 coupe instead, was a GMAC lease turn in when the guy couldn't make the first month payment. 505 miles on the odo. Loaded to the gills, black on black, 6 speed. paid $40k out the door inc tax and license. It's just going to be a daily driver until something better comes along. They sold the Ron Fellow's special to the next guy in line behind me... full price.
