When I was younger and foolish, I drove my 72 Vette in the winter. Put
winter tires on it and spun out a few times -too much power for the snow
and ice. About 5 years after I sold it, I saw it again and the bumpers were
rusted through with baseball size holes. Vettes rust but not where you
would expect it - frames, crossmembers, windshield frames, bumpers,
brackets etc...

Just not a good idea. (P.S. the heater was real warm!)

C5:  No steady diet of snow but have done a
couple of Mammoth runs and a trip from Wilkins
to Jackpot on US93.  It's no worse than in any
other 2WD car/truck.

Vulcan cable chains on conventional rear tires.
Active handling helps on road but not in parking
areas.  Carry a sack of sand w/scoop for parking
places and remember to park into uphill pointing
slots.

I don't drive my car on snow or ice.  It has the ASR and I run all-season
tires, but I stick with either of the Acuras, both of which are
front-drivers, have traction control and anti-locks, and the newer one has
stability assist.  With the amount of road salt they put down around here,
I've no need or desire to subject the Corvette to that.  If the roads don't
clear for weeks on end, I do pull it out of the garage and let it idle for
20 minutes every other weekend.  I put Stabil in the tank but I figure
letting the engine reach operating temp once in a while might avoid leaks
when spring finally rolls around.  It's worked so far.
