There was a "FRC" (Fixed roof coupe) before the Z06.
The FRC was another GM fuckup.
They claimed it had a stiffer suspension and therefore was used as the body
style for the Z06.
However, later the Z06 came out in the normal coupe body style and the FRC
was dropped. Sort of proved that it was a GM marketing F-up and not a
'preferred stiffer body'.
This is just another case of GM marketing screwing up, spinning this fact
into trying to make buyers believe this was done on purpose and is a plus,
then proving they screwed up by dropping the body style.
The FRC was really meant as a 'cheaper' or less desireable Corvette. The
billy bob. A real marketing screwup.

OK, I'll nibble at that bait....
Gosh Vito, that post indicated a lack of
knowledge about Post-WWII automotive
engineering. Looks like you were thinking in
terms of the frame-suspension-coachwork formula
that existed before 1939. The 1940 Nash changed
all that.
Or, maybe you are just caught up in busses,
trucks and SUVs.
Yea cats folks, bringing this guy up to date is
going to be a 'too hard' ...someone put him out
of his misery ... or, chase him out of the gene
pool.

The programmers, in their mercy and wisdom, provided the "ig" list so that
those of us who value our time won't have to wade through the muck.

Guess you really don't know as much as you think you do. The Z06 (C5 or
C6) frame and body has NEVER been the same as the "normal" coupe.
