I finally made it to 101,000 miles on my 1999 Chevy Malibu. ($4800
maintenance and repair over 7 years).
Should I consider changing the spark plugs at this time? (I would
hate to stir the pot, particularly if nothing is wrong.)

The old saying is especially relevant for cars "if it aint broke dont
fix it!!!

Plugs are overdue, did mine at 80k on both cars.
Count on a new set of wires also as they are not gonna come off the plugs in
one piece.
If you wait until they start misfiring your gonna set trouble codes and turn
on the CEL, it's called normal maintainace.
