It's done it since day 1. Sometimes when I try to start it, it'll grind for
a short while then go ahead and start. It sorta sounds like when an engine
diesels. I'll eventually take it to the dealer to be checked but thought
I'd get an opinion or two on it first.
I like the vechicle but miss my Silverado which I traded in on it. The
Malibu doesn't get good gas mileage. In fact my 2005 Silverado 5.3L, 295hp,
got better gas mileage than my MAX. Oh well.......I'll keep it a while then
get another Silverado or SSR. My Max is black/black.....it's a nice vehicle
but I'm not as pleased with it as I thought I would be.
Thanks.

Your MAx should get *much* gas better mileage than your Silverado did.
Something is wrong.

Sounds like a ground problem, I know grounds are taken for granted
Beefing up ground connections can add years to the life of electronic
components. If you have a VOM, check for voltage drop at grounds by
connecting one probe to HOT and trying other [ ground ] prob at battery,
than at block, fender, and the like. Thick paint on brackets ?
