There is a problem with my 2004 Malibus steering, I have the V6 LS,
when turning left there is no resistance and when turning right there
is normal resistance? I have no Idea what the problem is, the
dealership wants to put a gear box in but I talked with a friend that
use to work at GM and  he said it was the engines electrical system
that was messed up and that the engine needed to be replaced, whats
going on?

The engine electrical system would not be fixed by replacing the engine,
but by replacing whatever part is bad (the engine itself is not
electrical).  However, didn't some of those things have electric power
steering?  I hear there were lots of problems with those.  As I recall,
it's not the gear box, but the steering column that needs replaced to
fix this problem.
