The low coolant light comes on when i start the engine up late in the
afternoon after the car has been sitting for about 9 hours ,, after the
engine starts it pops up and dings a couple of times then goes away, it
doesn't stay on while driving ,, and it also doesn't do this in the morning
after it's been sitting for about 12-14hrs.

Anyone shed some light on this damn light? The car has 88000km on it and
hasn't had anything done to the cooling system yet.

thanks

howdy, have you checked the actual coolant level? it could be a bad
sensor. my light came on but it lead to the dreaded manifold gasket.
try checking the coolant level in the morning and before you start it
in the afternoon and compare. do you use the heat at all?

checked the level after driving only ,, keep forgetting in the a.m. ,,to
damn dark also ,, yes i use the heat most of the time ,, the gauge is
going up to about mid point ,and that's after about 15min on the highway.

when your light came on with the gasket problem ,, was it staying on all
the time or just coming on intermittantly??

is it low at all? if the level is at the bottem of the tank it could
suck the coolant into your heater core and trap it in and once cooled
it wouldent be returned to the surge tank till the ride home? how long
does the light stay on? my light would stay on till i filled it up
which started as a little coolant every couple weeks or so and then it
seemed to loose it faster and faster but it was all internal so i never
saw a puddle or anything. i changed the gasket myself but now it over
heats i posted about it under my other SN

I haven't been able to check the level yet ,, i'm going out tonight to get
some dexcool and will check it in the light of morning , the light comes on
and dings a couple of times and then goes out within 10 seconds , never
stays on longer than that.

Also what was entailed in changing the gasket?? How long did it take you
and how much work?

Thanks
