Has anyone out there had this experience?

The heat guage suddenly drops to zero, and the radiator cooling fans start
up.
This occurs while driving in the winter.  The engine light does not come on.
The dealer has changed the coolant temp sensor, but the problem started up
again a week or so later.
When I called the dealer the second time, they seemed stumped.
Results of any of your similar experiences would be helpful.

Thanks

Had this exact same thing happen three times on my '01
Malibu. Each time the dealer did their thing with it under
warranty. After the third time I got rid of the car for
something else, so I don't know if the third time fixed it
or not.

Are you sure your coolant resevoir is up to level?

Checked it this morning; it's right on the full line when it is cold.
