Hi, I'm new to the group and was wondering about the
long................. list of technical service bulletens available for
my 53,000 mile malibu. I see the list on alldata.com but you have to
subscribe to read further? ( is this legite ) Anywhere info available on
the net for free ? I am getting tired of listening to the wife complain
about the problems with the car so i would like some info to fix the
thing once and for all ! or atleast alittle while.
1> gas gage intermittent level reading
2> odor from AC in hot weather ( we just lived in Phoenix )
3> wheel bearing problem ( possible cause of noise when turning )
4> creek from upper r/h strut bearing
5> driver power window intermittent
6> not starting after cranking ( sometimes requires second go at it )
7> transmission servicing ( check level when hot / burn yourself on
exhaust manifold when getting access to cap )
Thats all,
Thanks in advance ...

Alldata is legit and its worth the cost of subscription (about $20 ). It
covers all these problems. Also the Haynes Manual is a good investment
(about $15.00 ). A few bucks invested instead of getting ripped off by
the dealers and unscrupulous garages.

I have been trying to find a manual for the Malibu but to no avail. Do you
have the ISBN number for this book. I have tried to find the "how to books"
for the Malibu and found books for many other makes and motorcycles. I have
found online a manuals for the Chevy engine. I'll go check it out. This
summer I saw a Malibu with Oldsmobile logos all over it. Should I be looking
for Oldsmobile book instead. Any help would be appreciate.

What was I thinking. I search google.com and found what I was looking for.
ISBN: 1563923610 is one of the books that looks like it will fit the bill.

I've got the Chilton's book (#28690) for '97-2000 Malibu/Cutlass. Not a bad
book for all sorts of maintenance - the wiring diagrams and engine codes
alone are worth the cover price (around $20, if I'm remembering right). The
ISBN is 0-8019-9320-2.

AllData was a much better deal when they actually sent you a CD with an
unlock code for your model.
I hate the subscription service. I signed up for a year when I first got my
'99. Worth it to get the TSB's, but I've just relied on my Haynes manual and
this group since AllData expired.
It's definitely _not_ worth $20 + $20 (+ $20 and so on). Now if they sold
year 1 for $20, and $10 for each additional year, that would be a smart move
on their part.
Maybe I'm in the minority? Any other opinions out there?

In my area, the public library system has free access to AllData Pro
on the internet. The library even allows printing of up to 75 pages
per day for free.
You might check to see if your library has AllData Pro online also.
