Is the 2004 3500 V6 just a larger 3.4L, or a new engine?

Pretty much a 'kicked out' 3.1/3.4  I understand a number of the peripherals
have been re-designed (manifolds?), but it looks like the basic block is the
same all around.

   Displ.            Bore            Stroke
   3.1 L            89                84
   3.4 L            92                84
   3.5 L            94                84

Thank you. I saw one at the local Chevy dealer yesterday. The salesman told
me it was a new engine. I looked under the hood and thought I saw a 3.1 with
some different looking parts. Went to the Chevy dealer to check into a 8.1L
pickup with a six speed manual. Looks like Chevy dropped it. It's Allison or
nothing???
