My 1997 Malibu stalls when driveing down the highway. It seems to run
fine when the engine is cold but everyonce and a while when the engine
gets heated up, it stalls and cuts out. I pull over, turn the engine
off and it starts back up with no problems. This does not happen
every time i drive the car. I had a major tune up done and had all of
the fuel injectors checked (repalced one) to make sure they are all
good. The fuel filter was changed with the tune up. Does any one
know what the problem could be?

One car I had did this if I tried to use an after market fuel filter.
It took forever to figure out that is what was doing it, it would be cheap
enough to try first.
So I ended up always using the "approved" filter
Good Luck!

Crank shaft position sensors,
and if your engin has one. You didn't mention your engine size? Camshaft
position sensors can do exactly what you are explaining.
But, like all diagnoses on the newsgroups, these are seat of the pants
guesses from experience.
I hope this helps?

I just had the same problem with my 2000 buick century 3.1. I put in a new
fuel pressure regulator and that fixed the problem. Cost $55.00 and it came
off easy without disconnecting anything else.

First pull the hose off the fuel pressure regulator...If it has gas
comming out of it its bad....Then we need to check you fuel pressure..At
idle and while driving to see if your loosing pressure......How many
miles on the car ...with it being that old your lucky you havent
replaced the fuel pump yet...What size ngine is in it and also is you
SES light on and do you have any codes? When ever you post we need year
make model and engine size and how many mies are on it....It helps us to
tell you what is wrong with the car....
