My Malibu has recently been making a growling noise from the front wheels
that sounds like a wheel bearing noise. It growls when driving straight or
turning left, but goes away with the slightest right turn. Has anybody else
had this problem, and had it fixed?
I'm wondering if this is a common problem and if it is expensive.
Our Malibu is a 2001 LS with 38,000 miles. It has had the intake manifold
leak fixed, the heater switch resistor replaced, the front brakes replaced
and now the ABS light is coming on. $eem$ like an expen$ive to own.

Thanks for the reply.
Do you remember what they called the part or the part number?
Thanks again,
Duane

I've recently learned that GM has had a lot of failures of these new (2001
and newer?) bearing assembly that incorporates the ABS. It appears that
this is used on many GM vehicles and my 2001 has failed with just 39,000mi
on it. Two major auto parts stores sell many of these for $120/.
GM wants $550 to replace just 1 of these wheel bearing assemblies!
Your loosing me GM! - Duane
