I'm not sure if this is programmable somehow, or something has broken, but
as of today, the Retained Accessory Power which leaves the radio power on
for up to 10 minutes after turning the ignition off stopped working on my
2003 Malibu LS.
Everything else seems to be working fine, the radio just goes off
immediately upon turning the key off (like most other cars), rather than
when I open my door, like it did up until today.
I can't find any reference in the Owners Manual for setting this, just a
mention that it exists.
Car's under warranty, so I can get it fixed if broken, but I'd rather not
embarrass myself finding out I had inadvertently shut it off somehow.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Retained acc power is not programmable. It is a feature that is wired into
the cars electronics. You should take it in, something isn't right. Does
your dome light work normally? I'm thinking a bad door switch or BCM.

Tried all doors, dome light goes on and 10-second delay works fine on all.
I'm almost willing to let it go because I wasn't quite used to the radio
staying on until the door opened anyway ..... but I'm sure this will just
bite me some other way, so I'll let them have at it.
Thanks very much, I really appreciate the advice and expertise

REALLY spooky now. 3 days after retained power stopped working, it just
started again this morning.
I'm going to guess that one of the door switches is maybe shorting slightly
in wet weather making the module think that the door was opened (?), so they
all get a shot of silicone.

Hello Jason, I read your response to Chris and understand the part of a
faulty door switch. What is a BCM ? ____ control module? My wife's 2000
Blazer did the same as Chris's malibu, except it has not returned. She has
said her dome light does not work properly and has to leave the dome
override button on to keep the light from burning with the doors shut and
switch off. We started having this RAP problem after a very intense
lightning storm for several hours in which her factory alarm would
activate and her cabin lights would stay on. This happened several times
during the storm. Checked fuse block under hood 35 amp RAP fuse okay.
What next. Thanks, Still nuts
