I made an insurance claim from an ice storm that damaged my car on Xmas eve,
I just got the check but it says Pay to order of "my name" and "auto body
repair shop", can I cash this or do I need to have someone from the shop go
with me?

Never had a check written to me like that... didn't know you could even!
Seems stupid... oh well. Ask insurance agent?? Or bank??

Now I just have to save up the 500 dollars difference and I can get my car
fixed, I hate winter, stupid Icestorm, someone told me to wait until
summertime cause they said the paint will cure better in the summer than in
winter but I thought the body shop cooked the car in a high temp paint room
or something.

My guess is you still owe money on the car. The bank requires this to
keep you from getting a $3000 repair check on a $5000 car you owe
$4500 on and walking away leaving them with a car worth $1500. If you
do in fact own the car, then carry it back to the insurance company
and tell them you want your money. If you and the bank own it then you
will be required to fix the car. If the body shop just endorses the
check because they're nice guys and really don't want the business,
then they'll have to fix it for free if the bank gets it back.

Then some teller wasn't paying attention.  A multiple party check should be
endorsed by all payees.  I deposted a check once to me and my roommate (
deposit refund ).  I'd already given my roommate his half but when the
credit union serviced the ATM and went to process the check they called me
up and said he needed to come by the branch to sign it.

Then the person staring you in the face screwed up.  What does it really
matter?
