I cannot get my truck to start after changin the plug wires.  I get a spark
, but it wont start.  I have tried putting a little gas in the carberator &
have also changed the coil.  It did start & run before I changed the plug
wires, but now it won't.  Do you have any other suggestions?

This is a Malibu newsgroup. Maybe you posted to the wrong group.

However if all was well before you replaced the wires, I'd suggest a few
things.

Check each wire goes to the right place, miswiring could prevent
anything happening. Make sure you know for sure which cylinder one is by
checking a manual.

An 83 sounds like it would have a rotor inside the distributor. That
still in place? Distributor on the right way round? Wire from coil to
distributor still in place?

Gotta be something simple. Good luck.

The El Camino is essentially a Malibu cut into a pickup. You are just
not up on Malibus.
I'd say he probably got the firing order off on the wires too. If he
routed them under the engine on the driver's side that is easy to do.
The original distributor had the firing order marked on a ring that
mounted on the distributor which helped keep it straight, but
replacement wire sets did not use the ring. #1 is the left front
(driver's side) on the V6.
